If you follow video games at all, you are probably aware that [Grand Theft Auto VI](https://www.rockstargames.com/VI?ref=ryangrier.blog) (GTA VI) is being released next month. It’s likely the most anticipated game of the year. Gamers have been waiting for years for the latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.

The games in the GTA series are made by [Rockstar Games](https://www.rockstargames.com/?ref=ryangrier.blog). Rockstar Games is historically known for making excellent games. The Grand Theft Auto games have been their flagship franchise.

Me? I’ve never been a big fan of GTA.

I’ve played several other Rockstar Games, including several GTA games and [Bully](https://www.rockstargames.com/bully?ref=ryangrier.blog). They never really clicked with me, and I didn’t finish any of them.

There is one Rockstar Games title that I played and absolutely loved. It’s [L.A. Noire](https://www.rockstargames.com/games/lanoire?ref=ryangrier.blog). It was published by Rockstar and developed by Team Bondi.

I originally played it on the PS3, where I even unlocked the Platinum Trophy for the base game. I didn't get 100% of the DLC trophies, but I got very close.

My L.A. Noire PS3 Trophies

There’s a lot about L.A. Noire that I enjoyed. The story and acting are both good. The [soundtrack](https://music.apple.com/us/album/l-a-noire-official-soundtrack/1655222019?ref=ryangrier.blog) is amazing (one of my favorites). I also enjoy the locale and time period in the game. The one thing I didn’t enjoy was the shooting. It just wasn’t very good.

I particularly enjoyed investigating crime scenes and interrogating suspects. The slower pace appealed to me much more than the open-world chaos of GTA.

I loved L.A. Noire enough that I bought [the game](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/l-a-noire-switch/?ref=ryangrier.blog) again for the [Nintendo Switch](https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch/?ref=ryangrier.blog).

I’ve heard good things about [Red Dead Redemption](https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption?ref=ryangrier.blog) and [Red Dead Redemption II](https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2?ref=ryangrier.blog). I own them both, but haven’t had a chance to play them.

I may eventually give GTA VI a try, but I'll wait until it's on sale. In the meantime, maybe it's finally time to play those Red Dead Redemption games.
